• Journal of Literary Studies

The Journal of Literary Studies publishes and globally disseminates original and cutting-edge research informed by Literary and Cultural Theory. The journal is an independent quarterly publication owned and published by the Literature Association of South Africa (LASA).

Between 2007 and 2021, the journal was published in partnership with Unisa Press and Taylor & Francis. From 2022 onward, the journal will be published under the open-access model in partnership with Unisa Press.

The aim of the journal is to publish articles and full-length review essays informed by Literary Theory in the General Literary Theory subject area. The content of the journal consists of research articles and review essays of 6,000 words. Short book reviews (800 to 1000 words) are solicited by the Editor (from 2022 onward). The target audience of the journal is scholars in the field of Literary and Cultural Studies. Submissions to the journal can be in English or Afrikaans.

The journal is indexed in the following: Arts and Humanities Citation Index (AHCI) of Web of Science, Index to South African Periodicals, British Humanities Index, Humanities International Index, Scopus and MLA International Bibliography. It is also listed on the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ).
